WHEN DAYS SPEAK

I. Where Empire Ends, and Wisdom Begins

The chronicles of eras offer memories of empires whose magnificence captivated nations and whose fortunes intoxicated monarchs. Their capitals convinced them their luminosity might outshine the light of the sun itself. But our contemporary era is not unique. The Valley sells ideas the way ancient markets sold incense, and financial markets speak with their chorus of prophets; only their prophecies are numerical, and their miracles expire by noon.

And yet concealed beneath the magnificence of history’s greatest empire, Egypt, where even the walls professed divinity, was a man who didn’t buy the show. Whereas everyone else was hypnotised by pyramids that scraped the sky and wealth that shimmered like a deity, he noticed something offbeat, something hollow. In a realm booming with power, he opted for a separate melody. In a society that loved its own sparkle, he was unwilling to bow

And yet he recognised the shimmer for what it was.

He discerned the hollowness behind the gold and the fragility beneath the marble. Among the grand structures of Egypt, a monument once revered now slowly buckles under the weight of time, its inscriptions fading as whispers are lost to history. Egypt’s wealth could not capture his soul; its glory could not imprison his destiny. His heart was seized by another reality: the counsel of the Divine, the eternal trajectory set for his existence.

The psalm preserved in his name opens a window into that consciousness. In Psalm 90, Mosheh does not speak of the LORD as a distant deity but as a dwelling place across generations, an everlasting governance, a rulership beyond history, one who was, is, and ever shall be.

If the LORD Himself is our dwelling place, then existence does not begin with self-awareness but with Divine Presence. What we call life is participation in His eternal flow. To help weave this eternal flow into the fabric of daily life, consider beginning each day with a simple reflection: take a moment each morning to anchor your day in this divine consciousness. Quiet your mind and set a daily intention or prayer asking for awareness and guidance to see your day’s divine design. Engage in this practice to deepen your connection with the flow of life that transcends time, allowing wisdom to guide your steps.

II. The Weight of the Name

The title LORD carries a weight beyond language. It defines existence, delegates authority, and binds creation to its Source. When that name rests upon a man, kingdoms shift. When acknowledged in a nation, destinies bend toward divine order. But what shifts in you when you whisper that name? Take a moment to let this question resonate within you. Feel the weight of it as it transforms abstract authority into personal encounter. In that silent reflection, doctrine blossoms into connection.

Mosheh understood this. His words were not poetic musings but revelatory principles designed to anchor a people and preserve their civilisation.

Among his utterances, one profound request echoes across centuries:

“לִמְנוֹת יָמֵינוּ כֵּן הוֹדַע וְנָבִא לְבַב חָכְמָה—Teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom.”

This is more than an orison.
It is a thesis, a blueprint, and a warning.

It confronts us with piercing questions:

Why would a man who led a nation, confronted an empire, ascended mountains, and walked with God request something as simple as the numbering of days?

Why would a prophet, a statesman, a legislator, and a nation builder ask ABBA to teach a generation something that seems so basic?

The insight comes forth as this: that generation had lost the ancient pathways. They had forfeited the inner compass that guided their fathers. They moved through time without consciousness, through days without understanding. Present yet unaware, they mirrored our modern malaise; motion without meaning, life without inward insight.

Mosheh saw that the tragedy of a people is not death,
It is unconscious living.

He entered into a sacred dialogue, uttering a prayer he knew he would not live to see fulfilled. Yet he spoke it forth, for what he asked was eternal, stretching beyond his lifetime and into ours

III. A request beyond time

As the Hebrew layers of this petition unfolded before me, each one peeled back to test the weight my spirit could bear. In writing, the words began to pulse with a life the English could not hold. Depths opened, ancient and unhurried, and the essence rose before me like this:

LORD, uncover what is hidden to allocate, assign, measure, and prepare what this time requires from us, to be brought in by your guidance to a decision making place and a consciousness of the skill, divine strategy, and governance for living.

It is a summons, a call to quicken the sleeping spirit. Embrace this stirring, knowing you were affirmed before time and are ready to embrace the wisdom that each day unfolds. In the power of this knowing, find strength and inspiration to engage fully with the purpose laid before you.

For consciousness is the proof of life, and where consciousness dies, humanity decays.

People cannot fulfil their purpose until they discern the value of a day. Of all the gifts in a lifetime, a day is the one that must not be wasted.

Grasp this:

· We all entered time through the womb in a day.

A day carries the weight of beginnings.

· A day stands as a gate between eternity and the present.

· A day is the smallest unit of destiny, yet its impact shapes civilisations.

Mosheh knew this, and the ancients across cultures testified likewise:

· “The unexamined life is not worth living.” Socrates

· “A man’s days are God’s scrolls; write wisely.” Ethiopian Wisdom

· “He who knows the value of a day has understood life.” Yoruba Proverb

· “When you take care of days, the years take care of themselves.” Rabbinic Teaching

· “Time is the moving image of eternity.” Plato

Though separated by continents and eras, they converged on one truth:
Time is sacred because it is the currency of purpose.

IV. As Our Days

Will we awaken, or will we repeat the fate of those who thought themselves untouchable until the foundations beneath them crumbled?

We must recover divine guidance. Righteousness quickens our consciousness, and as we rediscover the wisdom of days, we realise this: time is not counting down on us, but we are counting down toward our assignment.

The future bends toward those who understand time.

V. A word to the keepers of eternal Path

When I speak of a generation, I speak of you.

You who are reading these words, you who carry the breath of life in this moment.
Your existence is essential to the fulfilment of the days appointed to our time.

The ancient voices whisper still in the corridors of our hearts:

Apply your heart to wisdom.
Discern the times.
Let your days count.

For righteousness is the only force that truly exalts a nation. And that nation is not geopolitical alone; it is you: the nation of your soul, the civilisation of your consciousness, and the kingdom within.

Let today be the day you begin to mark your journey. Write today’s date and seek its purpose, allowing it to establish a foundation for the wisdom you gather.

And so this chapter closes with the very request through which a prophet, a statesman, a legislator, and a nation builder opened eternity to us:

Teach us, O LORD,
to number our days,
that we may gain a heart of wisdom.
